Like so many other things in 2020, Gift of Giving had a virtual makeover. The 2020 Gift of Giving Holiday Boutique went online! This was the fourth annual shopping with a purpose event that the Getty House Foundation has sponsored. Over the past four years we have raised over $25,000 to benefit organizations supporting our unhoused women across Los Angeles.
This year, in light of the devastating effects of the global Covid-19 pandemic on our local economy and the racial reckoning following the murder of George Floyd, we reimagined the goal of the event and its accessibility. We identified minority owned small businesses and in collaboration with our annual LA Original small business partners, we created a website and online campaign targeted at shopping local this holiday season. 50 different individual small businesses participated making this our largest boutique to date.
Mayor Garcetti and First Lady Amy Elaine Wakeland launched the online portal on Monday, December 7, 2020. A link to the website can be found here.
