On Friday, August 26, 2022, The Mayor’s Office, in partnership with the Getty House Foundation, hosted The Power of Procurement: Advancing Equity and Opportunity in Contracting for Women in Los Angeles in celebration of Women’s Equality Day. The event was held in conjunction with Mayor Garcetti’s signing of Executive Directive 35: Equitable Access to Contracting Opportunities and the release of a report commissioned by the Mayor’s Office and compiled by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.
Attendees heard from women business community leaders and small business owners who shared their experiences and insights into the process of contracting with the City. United States Small Business Administration Administrator, Isabella Casillas Guzman, provided keynote remarks. Guests were invited to network during a reception after the program, during which the First Lady of Los Angeles, Amy Elaine Wakeland and Getty House Foundation Board Member Lupita Sanchez-Cornejo gave remarks.
